We’re tucked away in the Waterberg, one of South Africa’s best-kept secrets when it comes to raw, unfiltered nature. It’s malaria-free. The summers are warm and dramatic, with afternoon thunderstorms rolling through, while winters are crisp and sunny — perfect hiking weather.
Our Stamvrug Hiking Trails, is famous for it's 2 Night Backpacking trail which is part of a network of 8 different routes, which cater to beginners, as well as seasoned hikers. Relax around a campfire at one of our hiker's basecamps, or upgrade to a basic self-catering cottages, or treat yourself to a bit of luxury and stay in our Mountain Villa .
Low-profile city cars beware! After a season of generous rain,
only high-clearance vehicles should tackle the road to Bateleur.

The Waterberg is a summer rainfall area and is classified as malaria-free. Summer days are warm to hot (low humidity) with thunderstorms, while winter days are mild, sunny and mostly dry. Ideal for hiking year round.
Bateleur Nature Reserve is situated 25 km northwest of Warmbaths (Bela-Bela) and 25 km west of Modimolle (Nylstroom) on a plateau in the Waterberg.

4 x 4 Caravans and tents can be accommodated in the immediate vicinity of the Base Camps making use of Base Camp ablutions.
